"It Takes a Cake!"

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How and when do I place an order?

For wedding cakes:  call or e-mail to check for date availability and make an

appointment for a free one-hour consultation. This appointment ideally should be at least

4 to 6 months before your wedding date. Consultations are by appointment only.

To confirm an order and secure a date, a deposit is required (non-refundable).

Full payment must be received at least 3 weeks before delivery date.  All work is by

appointment only.

Birthday, Anniversary, Novelty, Etc.: - Try to contact us at least a week before

event date to place an order.

2. What can I expect during the one hour consultation?

Wedding Cakes: I have a portfolio as well as many cake books which you can

browse through.  If you have any ideas of what you would like in a wedding cake, bring

those along. You will be able to taste samples of 3-4 different cakes.

If you decide to order at that time, a contract will be drawn up and mailed to you

in which both parties will sign.  A 50% deposit (non-refundable) will be required with the

return of the signed contract.
A consultation, either by phone, e-mail or in person, alone, does not hold a date.

Birthday, Anniversary, Novelty, Etc.: There is no need for a consultation. All

orders can be placed over the phone or e-mail.

3. What do I need to consider when choosing a cake?

Wedding Cakes: Your wedding cake is the centerpiece of your reception. In all

likelihood, it will be the first thing your guests look at upon entering the reception and the

last thing they eat before leaving. Your cake should be a reflection of your wedding day.

Determine what your allocated budget is for your wedding cake. Be advised that

designer cakes are more expensive than a regular grocery store/bakery wedding cake.

Many hours of meticulous work are placed into a designer cake.

Determine the approximate number of servings needed and when the cake will be

served, either as a dessert or with coffee later in the evening. Think of the "look" you want:

whether it is a formal affair, or a more relaxed whimsical theme.

Birthday, Anniversary, Novelty, Etc.: - Be aware that you are also ordering a

designer cake and it is more than a grocery store cake. We are unable to make and sell

licensed character cakes.

4. What kinds of ingredients are used?

All of our cakes are made fresh using the finest ingredients specifically for the

occasion. These are made from scratch – no mixes from a box will be used.  Our cakes

are never frozen weeks in advanced, so you receive a fresh, moist cake.

5. How is the price determined?

Our prices are determined by the slice. Several factors will influence the total cost

of your cake: the number of servings, the flavor of the cakes, the amount of detail in the

decoration, the types and amount of icing flowers, the delivery and setup.

Rental charges apply for usage of pillars, plateaus, and cake stands.  90% of your

rental fee is returned to you via check if materials are returned undamaged to me within 7

days after the event.
A free hour of consultation is provided to allow you to taste the cakes and discuss

your wedding cake.

Only checks or cash are accepted.
